I give my dog pedigree and homely food..but still doesn't seem to be health and very lean.not that energetic. he is having pain in his leg which is very commom these days.and always fell sick frequently.what to do??
Lab 6yrs 10 months old
I have a 1.5 year old Yellow Lab, she recently was having trouble digesting her food. A friend had recommended I try Nature's Variety Lamb and Oatmeal formula. She said it fixed her mother's Lab's stomach issues and it also fixed my dog as well. It is a bit more expensive than pedigree but its better than paying the vet twice that amount.
Pedigree is not a good food brand, it's full of starch and low on proteins, that could explain the dog being not very energetic. There are of course some very good dog food brands that you can only get from vets and from pet stores (like Canidae and Wellness), but if you want to stay on the reasonable price tier you should get "Purina One" or "iams", they are the best supermarket-level foods. both brands carry older dog formulas, so that would be good for your pup.
Also, home cooked food is often too fatty for dogs, DO NOT GIVE DOGS THE SAME THINGS YOU EAT!
Many things that we eat all the time have some stuff that is very bad for dogs such as onions, garlic, sugar, bread, mushrooms and dairy products.

otherwise stick with canned or dry food, it's the best you can do.
My dog (husky/shepherd mix), has been raised on Eagle Pack dry dog food. At first he was on the dry large breed puppy food (its lower in protein so the bones don't grow up too quickly before they have a chance to fill out and get strong). Then he went to the dry Holistic Select active. My dog loves it, probably due to the fish. It's the Anchovy, Sardine, Salmon & Oatmeal Recipe. No wheat, soy, artificial preservatives, colors, or flavors. Its got glucosamine, omega 3 fatty acids and phytonutrients, among other good things. it also has enzymes which help break down and digest food. Lucky is 10 years old, but most people think he's around 5.
