For fictional dogs I would say Lassie. There have been many real life hero dogs, but I would go with Balto, the lead sled dog that delivered diphtheria antitoxin to save an entire town in Alaska.

I'd like to add that Togo, a lead dog on another leg of that famous run to Nome, played just as crucial a part in delivering the antitoxin as Balto. But Balto was on the last leg of the run, the one that actually delivered the vaccine, so he got the credit and the fame.

petey or rin tin tin, marmaduke. real dogs uhh real dogs probably daddy the bully redman bough then gave to ceasar milan, but if you lookin for breeds then apbt is the most famous breed due to ill intent of media and local governments, and people claiming Mutts as apbts when they get out and bite some one.

the most famous dog, based on registration is supposed to be Labarador retriever... this breed ranked 1st by AKC (american) statistic from 2000-2010, & also ranked 1st at australia.
