Cirneco dell Etna
The Cirneco dell'Etna (plural Cirnechi) is a small breed of dog originally from Sicily. This hound was historically used to hunt rabbits and can work for hours without food or water. The breed also has a keen sense of smell and is primarily built for endurance over harsh terrain such as that of Mount Etna. It is the smallest of the Mediterranean island hunting hounds, the others being the Pharaoh Hounds and Ibizan Hounds. Cirnechi were believed, most likely correctly, to have been brought to Sicily over 3000 years ago by the Phoenician traders.
Appearance and Size
The Cirneco dell'Etna is a "wise-looking" hound and carries dignity as it hunts. Today they are increasingly kept for the sport of conformation showing and as pets, due to their low coat maintenance and friendly nature, although as an active hound they do need regular exercise. A Cirneco should measure from 43-51 cm (17-20in) and weigh between 10–12 kg (22-26lb). As with other breeds, those from hunting stock can lie outside these ranges.

Cirneco dell Etna and Pit Bull Terrier Playing
Kalil is a young male Cirneco Dell Etna, an Italian hunting sighthound similar to a Pharoah hound. Inky is a young female American Pit Bull Terrier available for adoption in Houston, Texas. I have been petsitting Kalil and introducing the two on leash for weeks and trust that both dogs are comfortable with each other. Both exchange dominant and submissive body language and playfulness. Inky outweighs Kalil so I stop them before they get too run and wrestle crazy.

Inky is a blue black seal American Pit Bull Terrier, found tied to a street pole. Kalil is a Cirneco dell'Etna, a rare Italian rabbit hunting dog. They enjoy sitting for treats and racing around the backyard and are good neighbors. Leona is a female Cirneco who hasn't learned the "sit" command yet.

Okay okay.. so maybe big isn't really "talking" for food. It's more of a growl going on here. But he's just so darn precious when he does this. He had gotten some food before i finished it all, so I am NOT teasing my dog. I love him too much to not let him enjoy human food =D
